James P. Kilcoyne

For more than 30 years, James (‘Jim’) has devoted his professional efforts almost exclusively to the defense of health care providers in professional liability matters. He is the founding partner of Kilcoyne & Nesbitt, LLC, which is dedicated to defending physicians, physician groups, hospitals and other healthcare providers in malpractice litigation.

Throughout his career, Jim has successfully tried more than 150 jury cases to verdict in Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. Many of his cases are highly complex and involve catastrophic injuries.

Jim graduated from Villanova University, magna cum laude, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Thereafter, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame School of Law.

Jim is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, as well as in the federal courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.

Since 2011, he has consistently been named as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in Philadelphia Magazine’s Super Lawyers Edition and in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine.

Outside of his active litigation practice, Jim is a member of the National Panel Counsel for The Medical Protective Company. In addition, he has been a presenter at Risk Management Seminars conducted by The Medical Protective Company and the Delaware County Medical Society. He previously served on the Board of Trustees, as part of the Executive Committee for Dunwoody Village, a retirement community in Delaware County, PA.
